After taking his Type E school-leaving diploma at Kantonsschule Sargans, he joined the Portfolio Management Department of UBS AG, Zurich, in 1990. After a few years as a portfolio manager for European clients, he moved to UBS Wealth Management in 2000 as a client advisor with the rank of Deputy Director, mainly looking after high net worth individuals.
